The shadowy metropolis of Cadavus was sequestered from the rest of the empire. Perhaps as a result, their mores and values were entirely twisted. Their residents were inducted from birth into the Sect of Thgi Leht, worshipers of the Ripened. They were humans who lingered twixt life and death, and thus believed to have ascended to a higher state of being. The healer Rozanna, although not a member of the ruling enclave, yet enjoyed their favor. Her mystical, soothing aura was the only known treatment against the rotting of the Ripened's revered bodies.
