Everyone saw Machefus as a foe. He was assaulted by both man and beast, yet, with his foul arts that spread pestilence, he would effortlessly take their lives and add their corpses to his army of the undead. So greatly was he loathed that rival kingdoms would join in arms to oppose him. Terrifying though his presence was, it was the sole factor in forming many unlikely alliances.
