When Christine was alone in the opera house's dressing room, a mysterious voice professing to be an angel spoke to her. She believed him to be a guardian spirit sent by her late father, and so accepted his instruction in singing. He said that it was her pure soul which had granted her such a transcendent voice, and so she continued to pour love into her songs.
